Environment Canada is sending aninvestigator to determine whether a tornado touched down south of Perth Andover in the Glassville area on Sunday evening.

Andy Firth, a meteorologist, says it's likely that an F1 tornado with winds of at least 116 kilometres an hour touched down in the region during a wind and hail storm, but it would have to be confirmed.

Some of the signs of a tornado include trees and poles that have been toppled in a straight line.

Several small buildings in the area were destroyed and trees were brought down, said Glassville fire chief Dale McIntosh.
