Suspicious house fire in St. Stephen being probed
Discovered in porch area at rear of home around midnight

Firefighters from St. Stephen and Calais, Me., responded to the house fire on Queensway Way. (Google Maps)RCMP and the provincial fire marshal's office are investigating the cause of an early morning house fire in St. Stephen Monday.
The fire at the two-storey home on Queensway Way is being treated as suspicious, Sgt. Bob MacKnight stated in a release
The sole occupant discovered the fire in the porch area at the rear of the home shortly after midnight, but was unable to extinguish it, MacKnight said.
The occupant fled to call 911 and to notify neighbouring residents, he said.
No injuries were reported.
Fire crews from St. Stephen and neighbouring Calais, Me., responded to the scene.
Anyone with information about the fire or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area is asked to call the RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
