A 51-year-old woman has been charged with the attempted murder of her 57-year-old husband after an incident late Wednesday night.
Rada Veselinovic appeared in provincial court Friday afternoon.
Fredericton police responded to a 911 call Wednesday at 10:45 p.m. at a home on Anderson Street about a break and enter, but it turned out to be an apparent domestic dispute.
There they found a 57-year-old man with serious, but non-life-threatening head injuries "and [he] could have died," said Sgt. Tim Durling.
"He required a lot of stitches to his scalp and his head, a lot, so it's pretty severe," he said.
Police said mental health issues may be involved.
"It may be of a perception that somebody broke in and as a result of that she reacted but we do know that there was not a break and enter. Our suspect feels that there was so we've got some problems there," Durling said.
After investigating further, police determined there was no break and enter and Veselinovic was arrested.
