This weekend's winter blast left many New Brunswickers buried Sunday.

The sound of roaring snowblowers and scraping shovels was common across the province.

Daryl Clark was digging out in Saint John on Sunday and decided to make a few extra dollars by shovelling neighbour's sidewalks.

"I think it's great. I can go out and make a few honest dollars," he said.

The blizzard lasted well into the night Saturday. Gusting wind sent earlier efforts to clear snow back to square one.

Glenn Bennett said it was a long night, plowing snow at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

"Plowing all night and all day at the regional," he said. But he said staying up most of the night plowing is certainly good for business.

Security guard Raymond Poirier just might have been the most popular man with a shovel in Saint John on Sunday.

The liquor store he minds at Prince Edward Square was covered in snow and he slowly started digging it out.

"I was thinking of putting five or six shovels out and waiting until about a quarter to twelve and seeing how fast the people would pick it up and give me a hand for the simple reason — there's beer inside," he said.

But Poirier managed to finish the clearing himself. He said he knows the people left out in the cold when the store closed yesterday will be grateful for his hard work.
