Riverview lawyer disbarred for 'professional misconduct'
Elizabeth Wilbur unlikely to practise law for at least five years, regulatory body says

A Riverview lawyer has been disbarred by the Law Society of New Brunswick for unprofessional conduct.
Elizabeth Wilbur was expelled over her work with New Brunswick businessman William West, who was trying to set up video lottery terminals and slot machines in Peru.
"Miss Wilbur was found guilty of acting in a conflict of interest, failing to expose the existence and potential consequences of a potential conflict of interest to her clients, and failing to advise her clients in getting independent legal advice," said Marc Richard, executive director of the Law Society.
Wilbur faced a total of eight charges of professional misconduct.
She did not attend the sanction hearing, which was held by the disciplinary committee earlier this week.
Richard says Wilbur can apply to be reinstated at any time, but case law suggests the society would not consider the request for at least five to 10 years.
