Crews in Saint John are cleaning up after a water main burst overnight Saturday, shutting off water to homes in the Rothesay Avenue area.

Saint John water received about 100 calls from people in the area who said their water was shut off, but the number of people affected in the area of Rothesay Avenue near Ritchie's Building and Flooring Centre is not known.

The break caused water to pour up through the asphalt, creating a small lake on Rothesay Avenue on Sunday.

Saint John water workers hope to have the problem fixed by late Sunday afternoon.
