Dozens of people across New Brunswick woke up Saturday morning to a missing vehicle and a hefty traffic ticket.

Nearly 50 vehicles were towed Friday night in Saint John following the storm earlier in the week. Moncton also towed a few vehicles following a overnight parking ban in that city.

Ben Savoie of Saint John was hit with a $94 towing fine and must still pay another fee for parking on the road overnight with a parking ban in place.

"I went to bed last night thinking I wasn't going to be towed. I thought I was safe and apparently I wasn't," he said.

Savoie said he isn't sure how much the other fee will be since the envelope with his parking fine was empty when he opened it.

He said he's considering fighting the ticket, once he figures out how much he owes.

Jim McLean, the vice president of Saint John's Loyalist City Towing, said his crew towed 48 cars Friday night after a snow ban was declared.

"If they can't get the fire equipment down the streets, there's going to be a major problem," he said.

With another storm on the way, McLean said people better pick up their impounded cars soon to make room for new offenders.
