A Moncton businessman is upset —and poorer— after a brazen theft at his car dealership.
Kevin Campbell said thieves entered his lot at 2 a.m. on Saturday, jacked up a vehicle and stole four rims and tires.
He said it will cost him $5,000 to replace them.
“I'm furious, I'm frustrated, I'm mad, I'm disappointed. It's just really a tough thing to take. You feel almost violated as a business owner that somebody would do this to you,” he said.
Campbell said he's not claiming the theft on his insurance because the deductible costs the same as the replacements.
He said the tire theft is a just one incident in his string of bad luck.
A few days after the tires were stolen, four cars at a dealership he owns in Riverview were vandalized in the middle of the night.
Brian Pellerin, who owns an auto repair shop, said locking lug nuts are an inexpensive way to deter thieves from stealing expensive wheels.
A set costs about $30, he said.
Campbell said he's hired night security and improved his video surveillance.
