Some residents living on University Avenue in Fredericton woke up to a frightening scene Saturday morning after someone smeared blood up and down the street.

Police said they believe an intoxicated man cut his hand on a window Friday night. They later arrested a suspect.

Residents told CBC News they heard a man yelling around 4 a.m.

In the morning light there was a bloody mess splattered on the sidewalk and smudged on some of the cars and homes lining the street.

There was also blood staining the doors of the Lady Beaverbrook rink, reported the CBC's Matthew Bingley.
