A roadside memorial has been set up for the young highway worker who died on the job this summer.

Ashley Richards, an 18-year-old flag person originally from Lakeside, N.B., died in August after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 39 near Midale, Sask.

She died in the arms of her boyfriend, who later told CBC she had been pregnant with their child.

On the highway where it happened, there are now several crosses, bunches of flowers and messages.

Draped over one of the crosses is a flag person's fluorescent vest and orange hard hat.

Among the messages left behind is this one, written on a cross: "I will never forget or stop loving you Ashley Richards."

On Monday, police announced that a Regina man, Keith Dunford, 44, had been charged with criminal negligence causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

Dunford's case came up in Weyburn provincial court on Tuesday, although he did not appear in person.

Instead, the lawyer for Keith Dunford, 44, appeared on his behalf.

Dunford's charges have been adjourned to Nov 20.
