An 82-year-old man from Lac Baker has died after his van collided with a transport truck hauling logs.

District 10 RCMP are investigating the cause of the crash, with the help of an RCMP reconstructionist, Const. Frédéric Gagnon stated in a news release.

The collision occurred Thursday at the intersection of Chemin de l'Église and Rue Centrale in Lac Baker at about 9:15 a.m., said Gagnon.

The driver of the truck was not injured, he said.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

His name has not been released, pending notification of his family.
