Saint John police have identified a female body found in the Saint John Harbour over the weekend.

Foul play is not suspected, Sgt. Jay Henderson stated in a news release.

The name of the victim will not be released at the request of her family, he said.

A couple of fishermen discovered the body not far from Long Wharf in the uptown area on Oct. 13.

Police and fire crews pulled the body from the water shortly before noon.

An autopsy performed at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Oct. 14 and DNA tests helped determine the identity and the cause of death, said Henderson.

No further details will be released, he said.
