A large search and rescue operation is underway in New Brunswick for a Quebec man who has been missing since last week.

Randolph Mitchell, 51, of Listuguj First Nation, was last seen on Oct. 12 at about 8:30 p.m., District 9 RCMP Cpl René Labbé stated in a news release.

Mitchell's vehicle was found abandoned on Beauséjour Road in McLeods, N.B., near Campbellton, on Oct. 13, shortly after 10 a.m., Labbé said.

The RCMP helicopter and police dog have been searching since then, along with members of the Listuguj Police Department.

Listuguj Rangers and the Listuguj Fire Department used boats to search the Restigouche River, as well as the riverbanks in New Brunswick and Quebec.

The Restigouche Ground Search and Rescue volunteers also conducted a ground search.

Mitchell is described as being about five feet eight inches tall, 185 pounds, with short salt and pepper hair and brown eyes.
