A 54-year-old died of his injuries after an incident outside the Twenty-20 Club in Fredericton. (Google Street View)A 54-year-old man has died of his injuries after an incident outside a Fredericton bar.
Fredericton Police have identified Walter "Buddy" Wheeler of Fredericton as the man who died Wednesday as a result of head injuries he suffered outside the Twenty-20 Club on Regent Street.
The incident took place around 2 a.m. on Sept. 29.
Wheeler, a father of four daughters, was transported from Fredericton to Saint John Regional Hospital when his condition deteriorated.
No arrests have been made. Police say an autopsy is scheduled for Friday and the investigation into the cause of death is continuing.
"We can't comment on suspects at this time," said Fredericton Police Cst. Danielle Carmichael. "What I can say is we are continuing with the investigation on any tips that come in."
Police believe there may have been a second victim involved in the altercation and are urging that person to come forward. Carmichael wouldn't say if Wheeler was jumped, pushed or fighting when patrons poured out of the bar at closing time.
Police have video captured by both inside and outside security cameras. They are still asking for anyone from the public who may have information on the incident to contact them.
