The body of a 29-year-old Moncton woman who was reported missing a week ago was found Sunday afternoon.
Alanna Greene's body was located around 3:40 p.m. in Moncton's Mapleton Park.
Police officers, General Investigation Section members and Forensic Identification specialists were dispatched to the scene.
She was last seen walking on Mountain Road, near Killam Drive, on Sept. 16 at roughly 5 p.m., according to a police statement released last week.
Her family and friends have been searching for her ever since, and were nearby when her body was located.
"We knew the minute they found her," said her mother Robyn Greene. "It's just, we're kind of numb right now."
"I guess, you know, not searching for her, I guess that's a relief."
Greene said her family is grateful to the community and volunteers.
"We just wanted to thank everybody for their incredible support and their love," she said.
Hundreds of messages of condolence were posted in the Facebook page, "Bring Alanna Home", which gathered nearly 8,800 members over the last week.
Alanna's sister Samantha also posted a message.
"RIP my beautiful big sister. I will love you always and miss you like you wouldn't believe."
In a release, RCMP said foul play is not suspected at this time.
An autopsy will be performed. The case remains under investigation.
