A mother and two small children escaped unharmed with just the clothes they were wearing when a fire gutted a house in Woodstock, N.B. on Friday afternoon.

According to a Canadian Red Cross press release, the family is staying with relatives in the community.

The Red Cross arranged for emergency purchases of clothing and provided personal care items, blankets and teddy bears as comfort items for the two children, ages 1 and 3.

Woodstock Fire Chief Ricky Nicholson said the two-storey house, located at 215 Broadway St., was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire.
