Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival organizers say attendance grew between five and 10 per cent at this year’s event. The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival’s organizers are claiming the 2012 event set new attendance and financial records.
The Fredericton music festival attracted international performers, such as John Mayall and Bruce Hornsby to Maritime talent such as Matt Andersen and David Myles.
Brent Staeben, the event’s music director, said admissions were up between five and 10 per cent from last year.
“It was a fantastic weekend of music and fun. It looks like we've got some record numbers overall, slight improvements in the paid admissions so that's great for the finances,” he said.
“Then people on the street — so many people on the street — came out and took part in the festivities and that's what it's all about.”
Staeben said there were “tens of thousands of people” who came out to participate in the various activities put on by the annual jazz and blues festival.
This year's music festival included 27 stages and more than 150 acts that occupied six city blocks in downtown Fredericton.
Staeben said organizers are now looking for feedback from festival-goers so they can start planning next year's event.
