Victims of a recent vandalism spree involving vehicles in downtown Fredericton say it's time to look out for each other.
About 25 cars parked along Aberdeen, St. John and Needham streets were scratched last weekend, either late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.
Fredericton Police Const. Danielle Carmichael said some vehicles sustained additional damage. She estimated the total damage is in the tens of thousands of dollars.
"In my case, my car got keyed all along one side of it," said Noreen Barwise, who lives on Needham Street.
"If we're really lucky, the dealers might be able to match the paint and buff it up. But if not, we're looking at $1,500 or $2,000 worth of damage that we'll have to repair," she said.
"I don't know what the chances would be of them catching those people. So they just have to be vigilant of your neighbourhood if you live downtown or anywhere, as far as that goes. Gotta watch who's coming and going."
Police are looking for the public's help with the investigation.
