McAdam residents are still being encouraged to conserve water. (CBC)The Village of McAdam has a mediation plan in place to deal with ongoing well water problems in the community.
Residents have been dealing with low water levels and water quality issues in recent weeks, but village officials say everything should be resolved by September.
Meanwhile, council continues to urge residents to conserve water, particularly with people coming back from vacation and school about to start.
The wells and aquifers that supply water to the community became an issue earlier this month after high levels of manganese were found in one of the village's four wells.
Manganese is a mineral that has been linked to low IQ in children.
That well was shut down, then a second well started showing low water levels.
Council members met with members of an engineering firm on Wednesday to come up with a plan.
Remediation efforts are expected to take about a week, but some materials need to be ordered before crews can begin the work.
A town meeting is expected to be held Wednesday evening to brief area residents.
It's unclear what caused the problems, but some people in the community wonder if several recent small earthquakes played a role.
