An inmate at the Atlantic Institution in Renous was assaulted on Wednesday. (CSC)The RCMP and Correctional Service Canada are investigating the assault of an inmate at the Atlantic Institution, a maximum-security facility in the village of Renous.
Correctional Service Canada (CSC) issued a statement on Thursday saying an inmate was assaulted at 7:47 p.m. on Wednesday.
The injured inmate was immediately assessed by staff and taken to a hospital, according to the statement.
There are 199 inmates in the prison.
