Natasha Flanagan said new management wants to turn the casino into a Vegas style-casino where cocktail waitresses wear revealing outfits. (CBC)The general manager of Casino New Brunswick has resigned.
Dan Wilson tendered his resignation on Feb. 14, just one week after seven former waitresses claimed discrimination, alleging they were fired based on their appearance.
Wilson decided to return to Las Vegas, according to Craig Demarta, the casino’s assistant general manager, who is now filling in.
Wilson came to Moncton in November to manage the casino.
Earlier this month, seven women, who range in age from their early 20s to their 40s, told CBC News they were filing a complaint with the province’s human rights commission after being fired from the casino without notice.
Natasha Flanagan, 23, who has worked at the casino part-time for a year and a half, said new management was trying to turn the casino into a Vegas-style casino.
“They want the cocktail waitresses to wear very revealing outfits, high heels, and not all of us fit that profile. So what they decided to do was terminate us all,” she has said.
Casino officials have denied those claims, saying the employees were released for business or performance decisions.
