RCMP pulled Régis Brideau over for speeding in a school zone. (CBC)A 35-year-old man has been sentenced to one month in jail and prohibited from driving in Canada for three years after being caught driving while prohibited for the sixth time in the past year.
Régis Brideau, of Saint-Isidore, was pulled over on Feb. 3 for speeding in a school zone, RCMP Cpl. Pat Gauthier stated in a new release.
Police recognized him as being a suspended driver and upon his arrest, discovered marijuana and pills, believed to be methamphetamine, in the vehicle, said Gauthier.
Brideau, who pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, is also facing charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
Two other occupants of the vehicle, Jean-Phillippe Vienneau, 38, and Nina Savoie, 31, both from Saint-Isidore, are also facing drug charges.
All three are scheduled to appear in Tracadie provincial court on March 14 to enter their pleas.
