Police have confirmed two deaths in northern New Brunswick earlier this week were the result of a murder-suicide.

“The investigation shows that on Feb. 5 Jason Scott took his own life after the murder of Tanya Couture,” RCMP Sgt. Alain Tremblay stated in a news release.

At the request of both families, no further details surrounding the deaths will be made public, he said.

On Monday morning, police discovered the body of Scott, 27, in a Bathurst apartment.

Later that same day, police discovered the body of Couture, 38, in her home on Route 11 in Clifton.

Something in Scott’s possession led police to investigate Couture’s home, Tremblay had said, declining to elaborate.
