3 New Brunswickers appointed to Order of Canada

Three New Brunswickers are among 50 new appointments to the Order of Canada announced Thursday by Governor General David Johnston.
Herménégilde Chiasson, of Grand-Barachois, has been named an officer of the order for his contributions to the influence of Acadian culture as a poet, playwright, filmmaker and painter. He also served as New Brunswick's lieutenant governor from 2003 to 2009.
Shirley Bear, of Perth-Andover, has been named a member of the order for her contributions as a First Nations visual artist and cultural activist.
Larry Nelson, of Moncton, has also been named a member for his contributions as a volunteer and community leader.
Others named to the order include CBC Radio host Bob McDonald, actor-comedian Eugene Levy, hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser and authors Malcolm Gladwell and Nino Ricci.
The induction ceremony will be held in Ottawa at a later date.
