A New Brunswick man was fatally shot Saturday during a hunting trip near Perth-Andover.

Police said they were called to the Perth-Andover Hospital around 10 a.m. when the wounded Kilburn man arrived.

The 50-year-old hunter, who has not been named, died in hospital. It appears he was shot by another hunter's shotgun, Cpl. Theirry Malenfant said.

RCMP investigators examined the site of the incident in the Beaconsfield area, and an autopsy was planned to determine the cause of death. Police planned to interview five or six witnesses over the next few days.

Malenfant said two groups of hunters who knew each other had gone into the woods. They were near each other at the time of the incident.

Police were still notifying the dead man's family.
