Donna O'Rielly's family held a news conference on Wednesday to ask the public for help in finding their missing mother. (CBC)The family of a missing Moncton woman is pleading for the public's help.
Donna O'Rielly, 54, disappeared last Friday. She was last seen leaving her job at H&R Block at Highfield Square Mall about 8 p.m.
Her family believes she was abducted.
On Wednesday, O'Rielly's youngest daughter Amy Popowych made a public statement.
"She is an amazing mother and her family meant the world to her," she said.
"She had a lot of exciting things going on in her life and a lot to look forward to in the immediate future," including the birth of her third grandchild and a trip to Florida on March 9 with her recently retired husband.
'We just really want to find out where she is and have her back safe and sound with us.'—Amy Popowych, daughter
"We just really want to find out where she is and have her back safe and sound with us," said Popowych.
Several members of O'Reilly's extended family, many of them from Newfoundland, have gathered at her home on Front Mountain Road in Moncton. All of them believe she is still alive, said Popowych.
The family says none of O'Rielly's credit cards and bank cards have been used.
Harold O'Rielly asks the public for help in finding his wife who went missing last Friday. (CBC)O'Rielly, who grew up in Isle aux Morts, in southwestern Newfoundland, and raised her family in Gander, moved to Moncton in 2004 with her husband Harold.
Security cameras show her leaving the mall, but she didn't get in the car she drove to work. It was found in the parking lot, where she had left it that morning.
Karen Streek said that none of the security cameras in the parking lot area were working the night her mother went missing.
"Unfortunately, the security down in the area, absolutely no video cameras on that parking lot. They've been broken for five years and if only one of them had worked, we probably wouldn't be here right now," Streek said.
It was stormy when she left work and there weren't many people around. Her family believes she was taken somewhere against her will.
Streek said the family has considered every possibility, including that someone thought their mother had cash on her since she worked filing tax returns.
"We're, at this point, still completely putting our faith in the RCMP that they're doing everything they can," Streek said.
"As time goes we're just hoping that whoever it is that has her right now slips up cause right now he's covered his tracks. We're just hoping he slips up, someone sees something, you know it's a big country but a small world."
Investigation ongoing
Donna O'Rielly was last seen leaving the Highfield Square Mall in Moncton, N.B. (RCMP)Codiac Regional RCMP has dedicated its general investigation section to the case, with assistance from the major crime unit of the "J" Division.
Investigators want to talk to anyone who was at Highfield Square last Friday between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m., even people who only went into the mall for only a few minutes or just drove through the parking lot.
"While these people may feel they did not witness anything it's still important for them to talk to investigators who will be able to make that determination," Const. Chantal Farrah explained in a statement.
Extra staff have been called in to take the calls, day or night, she said.
Anyone with information is asked to call RCMP at 857-2400 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
O'Rielly is five-foot-three and 130 pounds with green eyes and shoulder-length brown hair.
She was last seen wearing a brown medium-length, suede-like jacket and jeans. She was also carrying a brown purse and a lunch bag.
