New Brunswick drivers will be paying almost $1 per litre when they fill up their tanks with gas after the Energy and Utilities Board increased pump prices by almost three cents Thursday.

The energy regulator reset the maximum prices for regular self-serve gas to 96.25 cents per litre, but some stations can charge as much as 99.1 cents per litre after a delivery charge and HST are added.

Last week, the maximum price in New Brunswick was 93.42 before the delivery charge could be added.

Diesel consumers will also see a spike of about three cents per litre as its price has climbed to 95.46 cents per litre before the delivery charge from 92.52 cents per litre last week.

The cost of furnace oil has also climbed, rising to 77.16 cents per litre before delivery charges from 73.85 cents per litre last week.
