A 38-year-old New Brunswick man has been arrested for sexual assault and making child pornography after an investigation by the RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation Unit.
RCMP were to hold a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, and the suspect, who is from Tracyville, is scheduled to appear in Burton Provincial Court on Wednesday.
Police have identified one male victim from the area. He is now an adult but would have been under 18 at the time the photos were taken.
An RCMP statement said the investigation originated with the Toronto Police Service in November 2007, when a series of photographs began circulating on the web that were determined to have started in Atlantic Canada.
The investigation widened in October 2008, when another series of photos were uncovered. The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Toronto Police concluded the photos were taken in southern New Brunswick.
That information was transferred to the RCMP's internet child exploitation unit in New Brunswick who were able to identify the suspect and the victim.
