Rothesay Regional Police are trying to figure out why students at two high schools in New Brunswick's Kennebecasis Valley have been duking it out every noon hour.
Every lunch hour, students from Kennebecasis Valley High School are fighting students from Rothesay High School, Insp. Jeff Porter said Friday.
"Every noon hour, kids from both schools are meeting and wanting to fight each other. There was a fight yesterday on Scott Avenue where one of the individuals involved received a cut to the forehead, I’m told," Porter said.
One student could be charged with assault in connection with that fistfight, he said.
Police were at both schools Friday talking to teachers and students, trying to find out what's behind the fighting, Porter said, and to put an end to the violence.
"We’re taking proactive steps to make sure it’s not going to continue. The police cars were down at both high schools today to try to figure out what is the cause of all the violence … and trying to put a stop to it.
"But, right now, we don’t know why the kids want to fight."
