A man and a woman are dead following a head-on collision Wednesday on the Trans-Canada Highway near the New Brunswick-Quebec border.
A tractor-trailer and another vehicle were involved in the crash, which occurred near St-Jacques, N.B., said RCMP staff Sgt. Gary Cameron.
The two people travelling in the smaller vehicle, which had Quebec licence plates, were killed, Cameron said. Police have not been able to determine the identities of the victims.
The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with injuries, Cameron said.
The collision occurred around 11:30 a.m. on a section of undivided highway on the New Brunswick side of the border.
The investigation is ongoing.
The highway is expected to be closed for most of Wednesday afternoon and the traffic is being rerouted in both provinces.
