A routine traffic stop near Salisbury, N.B., Wednesday afternoon netted police what they described as more than $1 million worth of marijuana.
RCMP Const. Stephane Raymond said officers pulled the car over on Highway 2 because it had one headlight burned out.
When they spoke to the driver, he said, the officers felt something wasn't quite right. That's when they brought in the drug-sniffing dog.
"This guy's story didn't make any sense — where he was going to, where he was coming from, and all that," Raymond said. "So, at that point we decided to bring the canine in, and the canine did confirm the presence of narcotics in the vehicle."
The police dog uncovered 68 kilograms of marijuana.
A man from Newfoundland was arrested.
