Locked out professors and administrators at St. Thomas University in Fredericton are talking about talking to each other again.

The two sides in the labour dispute were meeting with a provincial mediator on Thursday afternoon.

"Working with the provincial mediator, both St. Thomas and the faculty association have agreed to a meeting this afternoon to see if we can restart negotiations in earnest," said university spokesman Jeffery Carleton.

The meeting could lead to the resumption of talks between the two sides, Carleton side.

The university locked out faculty members on Dec. 27 and delayed the start of the semester until Jan. 10.

The university and its faculty failed to reach an agreement after 10 months of negotiations broke down in December.

The faculty at the liberal arts institution is asking for increased wages, more office space and a reduced workload.

According to the university's website, the faculty has been offered a reduced teaching load and a 2.5 per cent raise every year for the next three years.
