New Brunswick and Maine tourism officials have joined forces to encourage travellers to take their vacations in both places.
A new "two-nation vacation" brochure details three week-long road trips that involve crossing the Maine-New Brunswick border.
Charlene Williams, spokeswoman for the Department of Tourism in Maine, said the campaign will benefit tourism operators on both sides of the border.
"This idea of a two-nation vacation ... it's wonderful for all of us," she said.
The brochure promotes more than just tourism destinations, though. On the back flap, a map shows the locations of the Irving Oil stations in the state and province.
Cindy Creamer-Rouse, spokeswoman for New Brunswick's Department of Tourism and Parks, said the gas retailer is distributing the brochures through its stations and stores.
"We actually approached [Irving] jointly," she said. "Maine and New Brunswick had the brochure produced and they agreed to distribute it at no extra cost."
In return, Irving gets to advertise on the brochure.
Creamer-Rouse said the two tourism departments are looking at pursuing more joint ventures.
