New Brunswick's Liberal and Conservative leaders say their election teams are ready as speculation mounts that an election could be held as early as September.
"Speculation is running rampant, but what's most important is for us to be ready," Liberal Leader Shawn Graham said Tuesday.
Graham announced part of his party's election platform Tuesday, which includes extensive new anti-moose fencing around provincial highways.
Bernard Lord says his campaign team is ready for a possible election.
"This commitment represents an investment of up to $21 million in the first two years of our mandate," he said.
Premier Bernard Lord began August the way he ended July, with three more funding announcements totalling nearly $6 million, including $5 million to keep the paper mill in Miramichi operating.
Lord said his team has been ready for an election since the spring. The Tories operated a minority government when Michael (Tanker) Malley left caucus for six weeks this spring. He returned shortly after he was named Speaker.
Liberal Leader Shawn Graham says he's ready too
"I told them this spring to get ready for an election because we were in a minority situation for about a month," said Lord, "and I told them to stay ready in case something happens."
