A man from Grand Manan was charged Monday afternoon in St. Stephen with unsafe storage of firearms and possession of weapons dangerous to the public peace.
Three people were arrested Sunday in connection with a riot July 22 on the New Brunswick island.
Carter Wayne Foster, who lives across the street from the reputed drug house that allegedly sparked the riot, was the only person charged Monday.
The other two people — a man and a woman — were released on a promise to appear in court again in October.
Foster is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning for a bail hearing.
During the riot, a group of about 40 residents burned a house to the ground in the island community of Castalia and beat the occupants.
The riot was blamed on vigilantes — reportedly armed with guns, knives and baseball bats — who were allegedly responding to reports that drugs were being sold in the house.
Several shots were fired at a car, but the driver was not hurt.
Four male residents of the home were badly beaten, and a woman was escorted off the island for her own safety.
Several other people suffered minor injuries.
