Post-tropical storm Arthur didn't dampen the wedding plans of one Fredericton couple.

Jennifer Black and Preston Allen planned to get married outdoors at the Killarney Lake Rotary Centennial Lodge on Saturday.

Preston Allen and Jennifer Black had to quickly come up with a Plan B for their outdoor wedding plans when post-tropical storm Arthur hit Fredericton on Saturday. (

But the storm brought heavy rains and 100 km/h winds to the city.

They decided to move the wedding inside, but the building lost power just hours before the ceremony.

“About mid-morning on Saturday we started thinking, 'OK where else can we go?'" Black's mother, Sheila Black, told CBC News.

"And we did call one church and they were having some water come through the roof, so that wasn't going to happen. And mid-morning, one of the bridesmaids started calling and The Fredericton Inn stepped up and pretty much saved the day, as we're calling it."

Black says the couple, their families and their attendants then relocated all of the decorations and guests to the hotel in time for the 4:30 p.m. ceremony.

She says despite the stress, it was a wonderful day.

Post-tropical storm Arthur brought strong winds and heavy rain to New Brunswick on Saturday,  knocking out power to more than 140,000 NB Power customers at its peak.
