Saint John police are investigating after a car, reported stolen in Ontario, was discovered over an embankment on the city's west side on Monday.

It's unclear whether the 2003 Toyota Echo may be linked to any other crimes, said Sgt. Mike McCaig.

The car was spotted at Seaside Park by a passerby at around noon, he said.

It took about an hour to haul up the vehicle, which has Ontario licence plates, said McCaig.

Police have seized the vehicle and forensic crews are inspecting it for any clues, he said.

Investigators are co-ordinating with the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police on the case, said McCaig.

He could not say how long the vehicle had been over the embankment.

But it was stolen some time between Jan. 26 at 6 p.m. and Jan. 27 at 10 a.m., according to the Peterborough force's website.
