Stolen front loader joyride causes thousands in damage
Crime Stoppers offering reward of up to $2,000 in Taymouth case
Oromocto RCMP are asking for the public's help after someone went on a joyride in a stolen front loader in Taymouth and left thousands of dollars of damage in their wake.
Capital Region Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible.
The theft occurred from a construction site near the new Highway 8 some time between April 12 and April 14, Const. Derek Black stated in a news release on Monday.
The loader was driven for several kilometres along the highway, damaging road signs and blockades along the way, he said.
"At one point, the suspect, (or suspects), lifted a concrete barrier over an overpass, causing it to land on a secondary road below," said Black.
The loader, which had the windows smashed, was eventually abandoned in the woods near Penniac, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 506-357-4300, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
