Murder charge laid in connection with Saint John stabbing

The victim of a New Year's eve stabbing incident has died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

Brodie John White, 19, charged with killing Joseph Veneau, 22 in New Years Eve incident

The victim of a New Year's Eve stabbing incident has died as a result of the injuries he sustained. Joseph Veneau, 22, was stabbed on Thursday evening. 

Brodie John White, 19, who turned himself in to police, was charged with second-degree murder in provincial court Monday afternoon.

White was remanded until his next court appearance, set for Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m.

The Saint John Police Force received a 911 call to a Sherbrook Street residence at approximately 8:40 p.m. Thursday night where they found a man with a serious stab wound to the upper body.

The victim was transported to the Saint John Regional Hospital where he underwent surgery.
