A 22-year-old St. Stephen man has been charged following a complaint of shots being fired in the town early Wednesday morning.
RCMP were called at about 1 a.m. regarding shots being fired at an occupied vehicle, Sgt. Bob MacKnight stated in a release.
"This is not a common occurrence in St. Stephen," he said.
No one was injured and no property damage resulted, said MacKnight.
Michael Hanley appeared in provincial court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to careless use of a firearm.
Hanley is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 18.
"Being able to identify and arrest the person responsible so quickly is important as we work to reduce and prevent crime in the community," said MacKnight.
