Sexual assault in Moncton under investigation

Codiac Regional RCMP are investigating after a Moncton woman was sexually assaulted outside her apartment building on Sunday night.

Codiac Regional RCMP are investigating a sexual assault that occurred outside an apartment building in Moncton on Sunday night.

A woman in her 40s was about to enter her residence on Prince Street at about 11 p.m. when a man forced her to the ground and touched her in a sexual manner, Const. Damien Thériault said in a statement.

The woman managed to break free and entered the apartment building, said Thériault.

Her attacker fled.

A witness called 911, but police were unable to locate the suspect, said Thériault.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian man in his late 20s, about six feet tall with a slim build, short dark hair and scruffy beard.

He was wearing dark blue pants, a dark blue hoodie and a dark baseball cap at the time.
