Second suspect arrested in axe attack outside Moncton bank
39-year-old man expected to be charged with robbery
A second suspect has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery involving an axe outside a Moncton bank on Monday, say RCMP.
A 39-year-old man from Moncton is expected to appear in provincial court on Wednesday afternoon to answer to a charge of robbery, said Const. Damien Thériault.
Police were called about an armed robbery at the CIBC branch at 655 Mountain Rd. on Monday at about 11:40 a.m.
A man who was making a deposit was assaulted by a suspect armed with an axe.
The suspect fled with the deposit bag, but two witnesses managed to retrieve the bag. The suspect and an accomplice then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Justin Comeau, 26, of Moncton, was charged Tuesday with robbery. He has not yet entered a plea and remains in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday.
The victim received non-life threatening injuries during the incident, said Thériault.
The investigation continues.
