Search for missing Mount Allison student to continue
Search was called off on Thursday
RCMP and Tri-County Ground Search and Rescue members have suspended their search for the day for 20-year-old Christopher Metallic who has been missing since Nov. 25.
The search was conducted on Saturday in Upper Sackville near the Tantramar River, where police confirmed flip flops found in the area were worn by Christopher Metallic before he was reported missing.
"The search has been extended to an area close to where the footwear was located, just an area that hadn't been covered at this point," said Cpl. Elise Côté. "So we have Tri-County Search and Rescue searching the grounds and we also have a helicopter doing an aerial search of the area as well."
RCMP said they will resume the search on Sunday. The scuba diving unit will be used to search the Tantramar River where the flip flops were found.
Recent cold temperatures have caused the river to freeze which may make it difficult for the scuba team to conduct the search.
The active search for Metallic had been suspended on Thursday.
Metallic is described as being aboriginal, six feet tall, 180 pounds, with short dark hair.
In an earlier press release it was mentioned that he was wearing glasses. Côté said "he was wearing glasses but not at the time that he went missing, so we just wanted to clarify that."
He was last seen wearing a shiny bright blue sweater, jeans and flip flops.
