Saint John still under boil water order
Saint John water crews spent part of Sunday fixing a broken water main that has put many homes under a boil water advisory.
The water main ruptured in the city's east end Saturday morning.
Crews have shut off the flow to the burst pipe on Rothesay Avenue, but the area where water came spewing out is still a mess of crumpled asphalt.
The boil water order is for anyone living west of Rothesay Avenue and Russell Street.
The city's chief engineer says the order is expected to last until at least Wednesday evening, but most likely Thursday.
It takes two consecutive clean bacteriological samples collected a minimum of 24 hours apart before the boil water order can be lifted.
The city recommends boiling water for at least a minute before drinking.
