Saint John apartment fire forces 12 people to flee
Police sent major crime and forensic identification units to investigate fire
Three families, including six children, have been forced out of their homes after a fire on Saint John's Waterloo Street on Wednesday night.
The apartment fire at 138 Waterloo St. was reported at about 6:30 p.m.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, but there is heavy fire damage on the upper floor of the two-storey building.
There is also water damage throughout the building.
The Saint John Police Force's major crime and forensic identification units were called to the scene to investigate.
No one was hurt in the fire.
There were 12 people in the three families, including six children.
The Red Cross is providing emergency assistance to the affected tenants.
