A fire chased a mother and her son out of their Saint John, N.B., home Sunday.

The fire damaged the Killam Properties building on Davenport Avenue. The Red Cross is helping the family while they decide what to do next.

Saint John's fire department said the blaze seems to have started in a back bedroom around 11:45 a.m. The building’s residents all evacuated when the alarm sounded.

Nobody was injured in the fire.
