Saint John drug bust nets 7 kg of marijuana, $54k in cash
3 men arrested and facing trafficking charges after 3-month police investigation
A police drug investigation in the Saint John area has resulted in the seizure of 7.2 kilograms of marijuana, $54,000 in cash and in three men being arrested.
Search warrants were executed in Saint John on Friday at locations on Ross Street, Saint James Street South and Canterbury Street, leading to the seizures and arrests.
Three men are to appear in court Monday to face charges of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
Additional charges are possible.
The three-month investigation by the Fundy Integrated Intelligence Unit involved officers from the Saint John and Kennebecasis Valley police forces, the RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency.
"Organized crime knows no boundaries and this significant drug distribution network in the Greater Saint John area expands throughout the Fundy region," states a news release about the bust distributed by Sgt. Jay Henderson of the Saint John Police Force.
