An armed robbery suspect, who attempted to elude Saint John police by jumping off the Digby ferry on Wednesday, has been arrested.

Police received a tip the man, wanted in connection with a holdup at the Daly Convenience Store in the city's north end on Monday night, was on the Princess of Acadia ferry just before noon, said Sgt. Jay Henderson.

When uniformed officers arrived, the man tried to get off the docked ferry and ended up falling or jumping into the Bay of Fundy, he said.

The 28-year-old man was arrested a short time later on the shore, said Henderson.

He was wet and cold, but uninjured.

The man is expected to face robbery-related charges, said Henderson.

Police are still seeking a second suspect in the case.
