Taxi driver assaulted, robbed in Fredericton
Police say the driver sustained minor injuries and had a 'quantity' of cash stolen
A taxi driver in Fredericton was robbed by a passenger on the city's south side early Monday morning.
The cab driver sustained minor injuries and had a "quantity" of cash that was stolen, Fredericton police said in a media release.
Police responded to the robbery around 1 a.m. and said the driver was not treated in hospital after the assault.
When the police arrived at the scene, officers thought it was the passenger who had been robbed by the driver.
"Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the passenger was actually the one who had assaulted the cab driver," the Fredericton Police Force said in a statement.
The suspect was arrested and will be held for charges.
