Southeastern New Brunswick has been hit by another fatal crash this weekend, with a 73-year-old Riverview woman dying after a her car went into a ditch Saturday evening.

The accident happened in New Scotland, N.B., about 20 kilometres north of Moncton, and less than 30 kilometres away from a separate crash early Saturday morning that killed four teenagers.

The latest fatal accident happened around 5 p.m. The victim was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the cause of the crash is still being investigated, but don’t think alcohol or speed were factors.

This comes as many in the southeastern New Brunswick community of Cap-Pelé are reeling from the death of four teens in Notre-Dame shortly after midnight Saturday.

They were heading along Route 115 in a sedan when the car veered off the road, hit a culvert, and rolled several times. All died at the scene.

Police said speed was a factor. Autopsies are scheduled for Monday, and a funeral will be held for the four young men on Tuesday.
